Enhanced cosmic structure: not-quite-primordial black holes and early star formation

Description

While density fluctuations are well measured on large scales, the matter power spectrum on small scales remains largely unconstrained. Enhanced primordial overdensities on these scales can collapse at very early times, giving rise to astrophysical objects earlier than in the standard cosmological picture. In this talk, I will explore several consequences of this early collapse, including the formation of supermassive black hole seeds and the first galaxies and star clusters, as well as their impact on cosmological observables such as the CMB power spectrum.
