Description

The Universe is assumed to be homogeneous and isotropic on large scales, and this is confirmed when observing the cosmological microwave background which only shows small variations across the sky. These assumptions have also been imposed when considering neutrino oscillations in the early Universe. However, we know from the study of supernova neutrinos that neutrino oscillations can violate isotropy and homogeneity when the neutrino density is very large. In this talk, I will combine the two topics and demonstrate with a simplified model how the symmetry breaking takes place in the early Universe.
