Description
We will begin this talk by shortly reviewing what would be the signature of a theory of Extradimensions and Black Objects. In particular we will discuss roughly the coupling between matter fields and gravitation, and the formation of micro black holes. We also give a pedagogical introduction to Black Hole thermodynamics in 4D, based on the Schwarzschild solution.
The main part of the talk will be devoted to give an overview of multidimensional black hole solutions, and introduce other types of black objects, which exist only in higher dimensional theories, namely black strings. We will focus on the numerical construction of rotating charged black hole/string solutions in higher dimensions with cosmological constant.
Finally, we will introduce the Gregory Laflamme instability and explain its connection with black object thermodynamics (Gubser Mitra conjecture). We will provide evidences that this conjecture holds for the so-called "warped AdS topological Black strings" in any dimension.
