Description
After defining experimentally diffractive events, we will discuss the
potential measurements assessing the Pomeron structure in terms of quark
and gluons at the LHC, as well as additional QCD measurements sensitive to
BFKL resummation effects, or to exclusive processes. The second part of
the seminar will be dedicated to beyond standard model and the possible
search for quartic anomalous couplings between photons, W and Z bosons. We
will finish the seminar by describing briefly the detectors used in the
CT-PPS and AFP projects in CMS-TOTEM and ATLAS, and especially the fast
timing detectors and electronics.
