Description
The Chern-Simons modification of spinor QED involving a constant axial vector background is carefully analysed. This field theoretic model appears to be fully consistent and represents the minimal modification of the standard QED that fulfill locality, renormalizabilty, unitarity and gauge invariance though leading to Lorentz and CPT invariance violations. Experimental limits as well as theoretical constraints arising from the structure of the radiatively induced modifications involving the photon and matter dynamics will be thoroughly discussed.
