Description
I will present results on the quantization of the cosmological constant occurring in a 2d model of (quantum) gravity coupled with scalar matter. I will show that after a partial gauge fixing the requirement of a quantum realization of the conformal algebra naturally forces the cosmological constant to take values in a well determined spectrum determined by the set of quantum states which are considered to be physical. In addition the gravitational sector gives a negative contribution to the cosmological constant value, in contrast with the positive ones coming from the matter fields, possibly addressing the cosmological constant problem.
