Missing energy and missing mass at the LHC: Dark matter connection

Description
Given the possible connection between the missing particles at colliders and the cosmic relic dark matter, we stress the importance to determine the missing particle mass. After a historical overview on missing particles from detection, we discuss missing energy events at colliders. We study their kinematic features and present the difficulties in determining the missing particle mass at the LHC. We propose to search for a new kinematical configuration: the "antler decays". New kinematical singularities are identified in this class of processes, which have clear advantages for extracting the missing particle mass and are present in many theories beyond the SM.
