QED in low dimensions is a theoretical laboratory to study the non-perturbative features of gauge theories. In particular, I will outline the results obtained for the explicit and gauge invariant solution obtained in the Schwinger model (QED 1+1 massless), one of the only solvable example available. Eventually, I am going to try to underline some striking relationship with fashionable condensed matter systems.
