Description
The Large Hadron Collider will allow studies of photon-photon and photon-proton interactions at unprecedented energies. Among the first such processes to be studied will be muon pair production, through both photon-photon interactions and photoproduction of Upsilon mesons. I will discuss the prospects for detecting these processes at the CMS experiment, with particular emphasis on measurements that may be done using the earliest LHC data.
