The Lemaître Chair 2023 has been attributed to Markus Ahlers.
The inaugural lecture and the advanced ones will be given between March 6th and 12th.

Markus Ahlers, Assistant Professor at the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen, Denmark, is one of the leading authorities in cosmic ray and astrophysical neutrino theory and phenomenology. He also is at the forefront of the emerging field of multi-messenger astronomy. Prof. Ahlers is currently member of the IceCube Collaboration, in which he has been occupying key positions. After obtaining his PhD in Physics from the University of Hamburg working at DESY, Prof. Ahlers pursued postdoctoral research at Oxford University, UK and Stony Brook University, USA. He then received the John Bahcall Fellowship for Neutrino Astronomy at University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA, a highly competitive five-year fellowship, before starting his own research group with a Villum Young Investigator grant in 2017.
Markus Ahlers is a figure in astroparticle physics, brilliantly mixing theoretical, phenomenological, and experimental aspects of the field, which he will give us the opportunity to dive into.

Il est également à l'avant-garde du domaine émergent de l'astronomie multi-messagers. Le professeur Ahlers est actuellement membre de la collaboration IceCube, au sein de laquelle il a occupé des postes clés. Après avoir obtenu son doctorat en physique à l'Université de Hambourg et DESY, le professeur Ahlers a effectué des recherches postdoctorales à l'Université d'Oxford, au Royaume-Uni, et à l'Université de Stony Brook, aux États-Unis. Il a ensuite reçu la bourse John Bahcall pour l’astronomie des neutrinos à l'Université du Wisconsin-Madison aux États-Unis, une bourse très compétitive de cinq ans, avant de créer son propre groupe de recherche avec une bourse Villum Young Investigator en 2017.
Markus Ahlers est une figure de la physique des astroparticules, mêlant avec brio les aspects théoriques, phénoménologiques et expérimentaux du domaine, qu'il nous donnera l'occasion d'approfondir.
