Exploring early universe with gravitational-wave data

Description

The gravitational-wave background is a superposition of many astrophysical and cosmological sources, such as unresolved compact binaries, cosmic strings, and phase transitions in the early universe. We highlight the importance of source separation in the case of a detection. By separating the individual sources we may reveal remnants of early-universe processes. In this talk we use data from the third LIGO/Virgo/KAGRA observing run to explore the parameter space of first-order phase transitions and primordial-star remnants, and search for signs of parity violation in the data. We look ahead and investigate future detection prospects with proposed detector upgrades.
