Precision measurements at Belle and the Belle upgrade

Description
Since going operational in 1999, the Belle experiment in
Tsukuba, Japan, was able to collect a data sample of almost 10^9 B\bar{B}
events.
Amongst the most exciting results was the confirmation of the
Kobayashi-Maskawa mechanism of CP-violation, which led to the award of
half of the Nobel Prize in Physics 2008 to these two theoreticians.
Currently a massive upgrade of the entire facility is being prepared.
The aim is to collect a data sampe more than 20 times larger than the
one currently available. This data will allow exciting searches for new
physics as well as further high precision measurements.
This talk aims at presenting the Belle detector and some of the physics
high-lights as well as the upgrade of the experiment and the physics
case behind this project.
