Description
After an introduction to high energy physics, this colloquium gives an overview of diffractive physics and proton detectors from the early days of hard diffraction at the SPS to the new FP420 project designed to use diffraction as a tool to measure properties of the Higgs Boson.
This talk will also include a brief discussion of the fast timing detectors being jointly developed by Louvain, UTA, Alberta, and Fermilab.
