CP3 lunch seminar: A parton shower formalism based on Catani-Seymour subtraction

by Steffen Schumann (Edinburgh University)

Description
When studying production processes involving QCD partons at collider experiments, an enhancement of producing additional soft and collinear partons can be observed. This situation can conveniently be described in the parton shower picture, modelling the subsequent parton production processes in a probabilistic manner. I will present a new parton shower formulation that relies on the Catani-Seymour dipole subtraction method commonly used in QCD NLO calculations.
