Description
After briefly introducing what jets are suppose to describe and how two broad
classes of definitions aim at doing so, I will concentrate on one of those
classes: the cone algorithms. I will show that the previous implementations
fail to satisfy the basic requirements from the Snowmass accord and present
SISCone as a solution. I will describe the impact of this new algorithm at
different levels, e.g. speed and physical observable measurements. In the
last part of the talk, I will define the concept of jet areas and give an
overview of its basic properties. I will finally show how they can be used to
subtract pollution from soft background such as pileup.
