Description
One of the main hopes for the discovery of new physics at the LHC Run-2 are provided by the excesses reported by the two General Purpose Experiments at the LHC. The Atlas collaboration recently observed a 3.4 sigma excess in the search for the production of diboson final states, where the CMS collaboration already had seen similar excesses in similar final states in the same mass region.
This presentation will summarize the main results from both experiments, in the various searches in which excesses were observed.
Also, the boosted reconstruction techniques will be described, which are of crucial importance for the selection of hadronically decaying vector bosons originating with large momentum from such heavy resonances. Finally, some interpretations of the results will be discussed, as well as the outlook towards the upcoming LHC Run-2, as input for further discussion.
