Description
Using the proton-proton collision data collected during 2010-2012 in the LHC Run 1, the CMS experiment has carried out a rich heavy flavor physics program, publishing several results concerning the production and properties of heavy hadrons and quarkonia. These measurements have been made possible by the excellent performances of the CMS detector, and in particular of its tracking and muon systems. In the first part of the seminar, a brief summary will be made of the main features of heavy flavor physics at hadron colliders and of the experimental performance of CMS. Then, some of the most recent results obtained by the CMS experiment will be shown. Particular attention will be given to the observation of the rare Bs->mumu decay, to searches for new exotic states, and to quarkonium production and polarization results.
