CP3 Lunch Seminar - Tristan du Pree - Zbb: from b to Z

Description
The production of a Z boson in association with one or more b jets is a final state at the LHC of interest for precision tests of QCD as well as for searches for yet undiscovered particles. In this lunch seminar I will describe the measurements of the Z+b(b) cross-section at CMS and the studies of the kinematical properties of this process, comparing the reconstructed data with the expectations from theory. After an overview of the currently most interesting comparisons, I will give an outlook to future studies that are expected to lead to an improved understanding of the Z+bb process: both in the context of precision tests of QCD, as well as for searches for yet undiscovered particles.
