Description
The subject of this talk is the resummation of the QCD perturbative expansion in the regime of soft gluon emission, often referred to as Sudakov resummation. I will present an introduction to this subject, and discuss its phenomenological relevance. After a brief recollection of known results, I will illustrate some problems in the computation of physical observables from resummed expressions. I will review some of the techniques usually adopted, and describe a recently proposed one, based on the idea of Borel summation of divergent series.
