In this presentation, the exact 2-field dynamics of hybrid inflation is investigated. I will focus on the problem of initial conditions of the fields leading to sufficiently long inflation, on the effects of possible slow-roll violations inside the valley, as well as on the final waterfall phase. It will be shown that inflation can continue for more than 60 e-folds during the waterfall, with important consequences on the primordial scalar power spectrum.
