Description

I will survey recent developments showing that, under certain conditions, quantum link invariants can be used to understand classical geometric information about knots and links. In particular, this applies to the 3-genus, fiberedness, and properties of alternating links. I will conclude with perspectives on how to move from 3-dimensional to 4-dimensional properties of knots/links.
