Description

Dr. Hannes Jung is an emeritus experimental particle physicist from DESY and member of the CMS experiment (CERN). He is the founder of the Science4Peace Forum, a forum for discussion among scientists to promote science as a driver for peace. Prof. Jonathan Ellis is a prominent theoretical particle physicist, staff member of CERN until 2011 and Professor at King’s College London since then. He is known for his efforts to involve non-European nations in CERN scientific activities. In this colloquium, Dr. Jung will introduce the Science4Peace Forum and its activities/initiatives, while Prof. Ellis will speak about scientific collaboration as a form of diplomacy.
