News and announcements:

Archisman:

  • VSC meeting taking place next week with some standard items to be discussed

  • Virgo biweekly meeting tomorrow: O4 commissioning

  • Appointment of the deputy spokesperson: we don’t know who it will be

  • Discussion of the Belgium representation in the EGO council to be held on Friday

Giacomo: I have been having discussions to have a Belgium representative at the EGO council in the past. They handle funding, decisions on upgrades of Virgo, … At the moment there’re only Italian, French and Dutch representatives. On Friday we shall have an informal discussion with the director of the council and will hear their proposal.

Joris: in the LVK, regarding instrumentation:

  • The most interesting thing is that there’s a heavy SAS (suspension) aimed at holding heavier test masses.

  • Lots of activity is going on with LIGO-India (first building in already built)

  • KAGRA: 1Mpc first month and after a year they will try for 10 Mpc.

----------------------------------------------

CW:

Giacomo on behalf of Antoine: continuing project with Rome → things are advancing in terms of understanding the software.

----------------------------------------------

GWB:

Max:

  • pygwb paper → p&p procedure is finished in LIGO and Virgo. We have addressed and implemented all the comments. We’re now ready for submission

  • stamp-PEM implementation at Virgo is being problematic, cause they don’t use HTCondor, which is what stamp-PEM was initially coded for. Also, there’re other parameters that differ.

Guillaume: 1 month duration of seismic data we're now analysing.

Aäron: still working on domain walls.

----------------------------------------------

Instrumentation/mechanics:

Joris: the 3rd test for cryogenic inertial sensors was not successful → why? I started asking people in Australia. Now we have new ideas:

  • We will not use superconducting capabilities of Niobium and using now Titanium

  • Morgane made some slides with all the tests done: now we’re testing simple components, like photodiodes in the collimators (results are similar to those in KAGRA), collimator tests (three ways of doing it), … → we will update on the outcome of these tests in two weeks from now

Pengbo Li: working with the wire spool for the MWS wires

Coils winding examples:

Winding pattern tests (5 layers):

Joris: is the structure of the wiring on the right something you came up with or a standard structure?

Pengbo: it’s our idea

Joris: is your baking in air or vacuum?

Pengbo: vacuum

----------------------------------------------

Computing:

Andres:

  • we had the ET computing kick off workshop. We are now figuring out who can work and contribute. Hopefully activities will start

  • In Virgo: migrating the Louvain cluster from CentOS 7 operating system to another one. We’re still testing it.
