News and announcements: –

----------------------------------------------

CW:

Magdalena: review on paper received. Now resubmitted and waiting for another answer from the journal.

----------------------------------------------

GWB:

Kamiel: working on getting data quality ready for O4 → framework to perform correlated magnetic injections ready in Virgo and LIGO

Guillaume: working on mcmc

Kevin:

  • paper on pygwb is close to being finished

  • FOPTs and domain walls review is nearly finished

Federico:

  • Jishnu: spherical harmonics from PyStoch review is close to taking place

  • All sky all frequency analysis presented by Deepali Agarwal yesterday (this completes the set of all directional analysis that can be performed and to be used in O4)

----------------------------------------------

Instrumentation/mechanics:

Pengbo Li: changing the factor to improve the sensitivity. How to get the dynamic range.

Kamar: limitation of LVDT both in simulations and measurements. Adjusting simulation parameters. Also working on noise reduction.

----------------------------------------------

Computing:

Andres:

  • installed a server where to store data for ET (MDC). The installation is finished. Jishnu already created the data and it’s already stored there. A link will be provided to download the data.

  • Status of the money to buy extra storage for Virgo data (backup) to the already existing storage in Louvain → already had a meeting with Brussels people → decision: it will not be bought, instead, another server in Amsterdam will be used (already installed? Already bought? → not known). Used to store user data, not official data. There will not be a problem doing this.

  • Brussels has more funding to buy CPUs for Virgo.

Giacomo: the new ET service that has been installed, how much memory does it have?

Andres: 600 GBytes (data only) + noise only (600GBytes) → on a 100 Tbytes server

Giacomo: are we storing h(t) data of Virgo?

Andres: not yet though in O4 we will start storing it. 10 Tbytes per year will be stored

Archisman: we should start using these Belgian clusters. How to request for access?

Andres: you need a CECI account. To create an account in CECI (https://login.ceci-hpc.be/init/) one needs to have an email account in one of the Wallonian-Brussels universities (ulb, uclouvain, unamur, uliege, umons). But there is the possibility to get a "guest" account (https://login.ceci-hpc.be/init/#invite_guest). In that case, a professor from one of these univertisties acts as reference person and is this professor who needs to request the creation of the CECI account for the person they want to invite.

Archisman: we need memory and computing power at the moment, not so much using Virgo data.
