Abstract: the first part of the course will be devoted to introducing supersymmetry and supersymmetric extensions of the Standard Model. Their phenomenology will be briefly described. In the second part, the issue of supersymmetry breaking will be discussed, with a review of the main mechanisms for mediating supersymmetry breaking to the observable sector, and a discussion of the recent developments about the supersymmetry breaking mechanism itself.
