Description

How will an audience remember you?

The key lies in the connection you establish with your audience, through which you will imprint images in their minds. A good image is worth a thousands words, they say. So let’s rephrase the first question: how will they remember your content?

For a variety of presentation types

I would like every participant to choose for themselves what they would like to work on: a pitch or a (more) profound presentation, with or without slideshow (3-5 slides), for an expert audience or for less knowledgeable people. This way you will see how my techniques apply to different kinds of presentations.
Depending on the type of presentation and the kind of audience, you will work on:

  • finding the right analogies to make it accessible;

  • visualising the topic in different ways: slide, hands, object(s), space, the

    mind’s eye;

  • shifting focus between different ways of visualisation;

  • presenting data in the right way, maybe to even start a discussion or

    conversation with the audience.

A practical workshop

In the morning we will work on visualising the content through slide design, analogies, hand usage, object(s) and/or space usage. Through practical exercises the content of each presentation will be optimised, while practicing the techniques.

In the afternoon we will use the resulting presentation to work on the connection with the audience using silence, eye-contact and body placement.

Preparation

We ask you to prepare a short presentation of about 5 minutes; it may be an existing presentation. Choose a presentation for a target group that you find challenging. Depending on the target group and the content, you can choose whether or not to use slides. During the course, we will iteratively improve your presentation while keeping in mind the target audience, and you will do various exercises using this presentation.
