Jimmy Dillies (U. Georgia Southern) : A new context for dessins

Abstract : We will show how through the realm of physics, dessins can be related to integrable systems. While dessins were introduced to study a very algebraic object, the work of Ashok et al. has shown that they are related to rupture of symmetry in certain physical models and that this approach can give rise to new invariants. In this talk, we will try to explain these ideas in more detail.
