Description
The aim of the course will be to give an introduction to theories of gravity beyond General Relativity. Although the subject of the course is modified gravity, a substantial part of it will be devoted to General Relativity itself to show the key ingredients and assumptions that lead to GR and, therefore, how we can modify it. We will discuss the main difficulties that we encounter to modify GR and how we can get them around. Finally, some explicit realizations of modified gravity will be discussed.
