Description

Introduction
With the first LHC run at 7 TeV being fully analysed and the data from the 8 TeV run being collected now, the exploration of the TeV scale has entered a very exciting phase. The FeynRules/MadGraph school is aimed at Ph.D. students and young post-docs in high-energy physics who would like to acquire  physics and technical skills  to perfom phenomenology studies at the LHC. Particular emphasis is given to the ability of simulating events at the LHC starting from the Standard Model or Beyond and to compare accurate and flexible predictions with data. Theorists, phenomenologists and experimentalists are welcome.  The School is organized in lectures, tutorials, personal and group work on realistic case studies.
Lectures
Lectures will be given in the mornings. Each lecture will of 1h  (being 50 minutes ex cathedra + 10 minutes for questions and discussions) for a total of 20h. The program includes:
* Basics of QCD for LHC Physics   * LHC Pheno and New Physics searches * Monte Carlo Generators * FeynRules   * MadGraph5     * From NLO to aMC@NLO * Comparing theory with experiments
Tutorials
Tutorials are given in the early afternoons in modules of two hours. One of the lecturers will guide students through the use of tools and their understanding. Problems and exercises will be given.
Personal and group work
In these two-hour sessions students working alone or preferably in small group address the questions and problems given during the tutorials. Discussions are welcome. Lectures and advanced PhD students assist and lead discussions and answer to specific questions.
