As part of the Seminar of Theoretical Physics (LPHY2501),
Professor Zhi-zhong XING , IHEP, Beijing, China)
will give Special Lectures entitled
"An Introduction to Physics of Massive Neutrinos"
Abstract:
We shall give a brief introduction to some basic
properties and hot topics of massive neutrinos, including
their roles in cosmology and astrophysics. The outline of
four lectures is as follows:
1) Neutrino history and lepton family;
2) Neutrino masses and flavor mixing;
3) Description of neutrino oscillations;
4) Implication of neutrino oscillations;
5) theta(13) hint and sterile neutrino puzzle;
6) On TeV neutrino physics at the LHC;
7) Extreme corners in the neutrino sky;
8) Cosmic baryon number asymmetry.
Details of the lectures cover the origin of neutrino masses,
seesaw mechanisms, lepton flavor mixing patterns, neutrino
oscillation phenomenology, sterile neutrino puzzles, possible
collider signatures of massive neutrinos at the LHC, cosmic
neutrino background (hot dark matter), keV sterile neutrino
warm dark matter, ultrahigh-energy cosmic neutrinos and neutrino
telescopes, leptogenesis and cosmic matter-antimatter asymmetry.
